It was also very rewarding to hear the spectators were enjoying the fun as much as i was. Lots of comments, oohs and aahs and generally drooling over the bikes (and riders?) Everyone i spoke too all seemed to love it. Maybe it was just the price of admission

Thanks for making the effort to come up for the last round. Always good to see you whip everyone else!
![]() Also great to see the boys from airlie here too. Finally a few motards at one of our race meetings! The local guys really appreciated the competition. |

Cheers, Ross
. A less charitable person might also have noted that my track inspection walkround times are not that much slower than my lap times . Glad you enjoyed yourself |

Thanks to all who made the weekend what it was. Bloody great fun. The flaggies, officials and of course the general helpers who made it a seamless event deserve a big pat on the back. Well maybe not Tim. If we pat him on the back too hard the poor ol bugger might topple over
![]() Seriously, congrats and thanks. Oh and well done to the two girls who had their first go at commentating. Good job. |

If anyone wants to bring along their bike to promote the club, or some shit to sell, we're going to have a few bikes, banner and tent at the swap meet at the showgrounds this year. They are going to give us some airtime on the PA to promote the club, so if anyone feels brave enough to get on the microphone that would be awesome. More the merrier.

Old curmudgeon that I am, I would have thought that, given the abysmal number of competitors at each of the four race meetings we have held so far this year, attracting more riders would have been our number one priority
. I'm not at all convinced a combined meeting will achieve anything in this regard . To my mind there are three or four possible (probable?) reasons for the drop in competitor numbers toward the end of last year and this year: they find it too expensive, they don't feel they're getting value for money from our race day program, they have felt offended by the way they or other competitors have been treated or spoken to (or shouted at) by race day officials or club office bearers, and organisation and peripheral considerations such as facilities or catering have not been seen as adequate .A combined meeting would (or should) allow some reduction in entry fees as fixed costs (track hire and first aid) would be shared by the clubs, but this would be at the expense of available track time for each discipline - which comes back to the value-for-money question .The argument that racing anywhere else in Queensland (or even Australia) is still more expensive is irrelevant for those people who think our entry fees are too high, because they weren't going to race anywhere else anyway! By all means hold a combined meeting if that's what members want, but really I think we have bigger fish to fry (and in urgent need of frying)! Maybe a huge roll-up of competitors for the One Hour next week will prove me wrong - we can but hope!! |

The idea was discussed briefly at the meeting on Wednesday night. The general consensus is that it would be a good idea. Shared track hire as well as a bit of cross promotion between the clubs can only be good I reckon. Obviously a few details to sort out between clubs - but seems like you're on to that already Matt

I've been yarning with the kart club a bit since the motorshow and they seem pretty keen to run a combined meeting. I think we should also ask the quads, so what do you think? They have mentioned at least one, possibly 2 meetings a year.
My thoughts are to run just three classes buckets, supermoto and formula RR and maybe 4 races of each class but this is all open to discussion. BTW the kart club were really happy with the help we gave on the weekend flipping burgers, tidying up etc. Just waiting on the reimbursement from Horst for the food vouchers to get the exact amount made.
