Officials and Volunteers

Becoming a race day Volunteer is a great way to get close to the action, learn more about the sport and meet some great people with a passion for motorcycling.

Each race meeting held at the Mako Trac requires four flag marshalls (flaggies) to assist the Steward and Clerk of the Course. Each flag point has a protective barrier, an umbrella for shade, an esky of cold drinks (supplied) and a radio for communications with track officials. Lunch is also provided by the club. No previous experience is required and you will be given a flaggies briefing before the start of racing.

Another way to help out is to be a scorer. With a great view of the whole track from above the start / finish line, the scorers monitor riders start grid positions and records finishing positions for championship point scoring.

Becoming an Official is another way to be involved. Free training courses are conducted by Motorcycling Queensland in Cairns and Townsville. See the Officials Courses link in the events section.
